One new thing to love…

The other day I was sitting on my couch, like I often do, and started staring at the ceiling over my island in the kitchen. You see our house started as an early 80’s single wide trailer. The original owners built a small addition to it, along with putting it on a real deal foundation with a small basement storage that was only accessible from outside. When I moved in it was just me and my two kiddos from my first marriage. Since there were only two bedrooms, I took the small one and the darlings took the “master.”

Some time later, Prince Charming swept me off my feet and we needed more space. Well, we looked into taking the trailer off the lot (we are at a lake with two big lots, not a trailer park), then we considered moving (again at a lake with two big lots!), and ultimately decided to build an addition on the addition. Crazy right? It was the most financially responsible decision at that time. The plan is to eventually take care of the remaining trailer by demo and reconstruction.

Why all the back story? Well I’m staring at that part of the ceiling (that I still need to paint) and decide I need a pendant light…but wiring isn’t gonna happen. It’s in the “still trailer” part of the house, and I’m not that handy. So I google battery powered pendant lights and find what I think might be the only battery powered pendant light that a 45 min google search will give you at Improvements!

Coolest part is the light has a remote and everything! Click, click, BUY. It came yesterday and I convinced Prince Charming aka daddy clown to put it up! Still wondering why the story from before?

Well, because in my picture you’ll see the two different ceilings we have…one trailer kind, and one addition kind. Oh and fail again on taking a before picture. Just imagine the pendant not there and that’s the before. 🙂

We all think the light is pretty nifty, the almost-two-year-old points at it and giggles, and the older two noticed it straight off the school bus this afternoon. I stuck the remote with the adhesive strip it came with right under the edge of the island, pretty handy if I do say so myself!

Love, love, love!

P.S. I know, I know, I have ceiling lights that look like girl parts. What can I say, they were cheap!

…that I didn’t have to work today (I should NOT complain, I’m only working one day a week till March to be home with the newest clown in our 6 person circus).

…that I was able to squeeze my legs into normal person clothes and not maternity (but this would take effort and I’ve yet to even look at the tread mill let alone run on it) Goal to lose 15 lbs.

…that winter would be done with already!

….that little clown would burp so we can sleep a few more hours. 🙂

Clean Tuesday!

Tuesday in the house is cleaning day. I know, why Tuesday? Well we used to have a lovely gal come help tidy up when I was at work, and Tuesday was the day she could do it. Now that I’m home though, it made no sense to keep doing that, plus we can save some $$$$! So far it’s working just fine. We kept the day the same because Mondays are a good night for the older kiddos to clean up their rooms enough for a vacuum to come through.

So in celebration of my duties I checked out Etsy for some stylish cleaning gear. I found these cutesy gloves at a store called Fresh Studio. You know if your gonna stick your hand in a toilet, at least it should look cute!

The shop owner actually sent two left gloves and was quick on the fix and sent two rights the next day! I’m saving the extra pair for when I wear the first ones out.

Something about a clean house is so relaxing! Here are some pics of the word’s smallest “master bath.” I actually kinda love it…plus it’s easy to clean!! (warning…cell phone pics coming, too lazy to get the camera out..all that scrubbing you know)

Dude….I suck at blogging

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I thought I’d give it another shot, since I’ll be home for a few weeks at home with darling daughter number 2. Granted I haven’t written a word in the past 5 weeks with her already, but oh well. I’d say I was busy with important stuff!

Latest obsession: wrapping paper organization! Latest fail: not actually wrapping gifts, but using the oh so easy gift bag!

Yikes – brave new world!

Ok not really! I mean I’ve blogged before, but in really random spurts and for really random reasons. So this little adventure is not really all that new. I have facebook after all (even if I never post to it, it still counts).

Latest addiction – reading home blogs for inspiration! Latest fail – not photographing anything I’ve done in my house over the past 2 years! Boy is there some major stuff too! So rather than feel remorse about it any longer, I’m going to start from here on out!

So to kick it off I’m posting a pic of something that just came in the mail today, and I’m IN LOVE! We took the 3 kiddos to vacation in Ocean Shores and there is a DARLING place called the Dusty Trunk. They have such cool beachy fun things in there I always leave with something. So one purchase was a custom order sign. They have a ton of them around the store, but since we live near a lake and not a beach (fyi I live near a lake) I had the owner order me this beauty so we could hang it. Down at the bottom it says the name of our lake and our names. Not that I don’t love all you people who I don’t know (considering there are 0 people reading right now I don’t know what I’m worried about). But the internet freaks me out a bit considering my kiddos so I blurred out the details, but left all the cuteness!!

Now where to hang it!!!!
